The Art of Investing in the Arts
We believe that a great city demands great art, and by supporting, celebrating, financing, and advocating for Toronto’s artists, we can improve the quality of life for all Torontonians.
Incorporated in 1995 as a non-profit charitable organization, the Toronto Arts Foundation exists to provide the opportunity for individuals, private and public foundation government agencies and corporate donors to join us in supporting all the various disciplines of art, from independent visual artists to theatre companies, choirs and film festivals, which enhance and enliven our city.
Our funds are raised through donations, sponsorships, and grants. We create innovative programs that support all artists: from world-renowned painters to young singers at the Regent Park School of Music, and from contemporary galleries and performing arts companies to the arts festivals that enrich our city and our lives.
Our programs directly increase the resources available to artists and arts organizations through the Toronto Arts Council. By utilizing the highly regarded, independent adjudicated granting programs of the TAC, donors are assured of artistic merit and financial accountability from all grant recipients.
Our donors are encouraged to advise us of their personal concern, whether it be a specific arts discipline, community-engaged art projects, youth-engaged art, or emerging artists from all disciplines. We manage several donor advised funds which are used to support the Toronto Arts Foundation Awards including the Rita Davies Cultural Leadership Award and the Muriel Sherrin Award for International Achievement in Music.
