Founded in 2007 by a collective of youth and urban arts community members, Manifesto has made a significant contribution to youth arts development in Toronto through the creation of events and activities that continue to build the infrastructure of youth arts in Toronto. Having its roots in hip hop culture and believing in raw creativity and people power, Manifesto has made huge strides in connecting youth across the city through a variety of artistic mediums.
Their high profile event, Manifesto Festival of Community & Culture, a massive 4-day free outdoor artists’ showcase, brings to Toronto a platform for collaboration and growth of new art forms. Included in the event is a Film Festival, Parkdale Youth Festival, an Art Exhibition and an epic family friendly outdoor concert.
In addition to this highly successful event, Manifesto builds capacity for Toronto’s youth arts sector by organizing and facilitating workshops such as the Manifesto/Artreach Pitch Contest, in which young artists and entrepreneurs performed or presented to a panel of distinguished judges for an opportunity to win cash prizes.
Manifesto also participates in a number of the city’s key cultural events including partnering with the Toronto Youth Cabinet in an annual showcase of young artists.
Congratulations Manifesto!
