Toronto Arts Foundation Reveals Bold New Look

TORONTO, January 26, 2017 – Toronto Arts Foundation launches a new brand identity, aimed at showcasing its wide array of arts initiatives and programs under a bold, unified look. A natural evolution of its “arts portal” triangle, the new Foundation look is bright, colourful and transformative – just like Toronto’s arts sector.

Toronto Arts Foundation paired up with creative agency The Workhouse to develop a brand image that draws on its past, looks to the future, and reflects the diverse nature of its programs. “Working closely with Toronto Arts Foundation, our objective was to develop a visual platform that would generate greater brand awareness for the organization and all of the amazing ways they support and grow the arts in our city,” said Belinda Alfonso, Senior Designer at The Workhouse. “Building on their existing brand, we focused our attention on the word ‘Arts’ in their logo and infused it with a spectrum of colour that reflects the diverse fabric of our city and the arts. This kaleidoscope of colour extends into the visual language, creating a transformational and dynamic system that aims to engage and empower our communities.”

The new branding will also feature striking photography, featuring artists and the public participating in arts activities that the Foundation supports. Worthy of note is the new Neighbourhood Arts Network wordmark logo. It allows the Network to firmly position itself as a core initiative of the Toronto Arts Foundation. Furthermore, the distinctive purple to teal colourway fosters a highly recognizable brand image, creating a distinct and dynamic presence.

“This new look is reflective of the scope of the Foundation, which has, over the past several years, grown tremendously in impact and in reach,” says Claire Hopkinson, Director and CEO of Toronto Arts Council and Toronto Arts Foundation. “From new programs such as Arts in the Parks and Creative Champions Network, to the growth of the Neighbourhood Arts Network, Toronto Arts Foundation is building on its past and forging ahead with a dynamic vision for what’s next. Our sincere thanks to Gerald George, past Foundation board member who designed the original brand for Toronto Arts Foundation, and to The Workhouse for guiding the evolution of the brand to reflect this new chapter for Toronto Arts Foundation.”

With this new brand identity in place, Toronto Arts Foundation will continue to spark creative connections, spotlight artistic excellence, and support vibrant cultural growth throughout the City of Toronto.
