At the Toronto Arts Foundation, we believe that a great city demands great art, and by supporting, celebrating, financing and advocating for Toronto’s local artists, we’re improving the quality of life of all Torontonians.

Individuals, private and public foundations, and corporate donors, through the Foundation, champion all the various disciplines of art, from independent visual artists to theatre companies, choirs and film festivals, which enhance and enliven our city.

Supporters directly impact funding to the arts where it is needed most by utilizing the highly regarded, independent adjudicated granting programs of the Toronto Arts Council. Donors and partners of the Foundation are able to increase funding to community-engaged art projects, youth-engaged art or directly to emerging artists from all disciplines.

The Board of Directors and the staff of the Toronto Arts Foundation continue to seek out new and innovative partnerships designed to achieve the mutual goal of supporting and promoting the arts in Toronto.

The Foundation has created several innovative programs to fulfill its vision:

Toronto Arts Foundation Awards

Toronto Arts Foundation Awards distributes annual awards, this year totaling $39,500. Presented at the Mayor’s Arts Awards Lunch each October to Toronto’s artistic leaders and champions, the awards provide the Foundation with the opportunity to build awareness and to celebrate the incredible contribution artists make to the City of Toronto. The awards are supported through the generosity of private and corporate donors.

This year's Mayor's Arts Awards Lunch was held on October 8th at the historic Arcadian Court.

Summer Video Series

To promote and advocate the work of the Neighbourhood Arts Network members, we created a series of short videos. Links to these videos have been sent to city councillors and other stakeholders.

The Toronto Summer Video Series was made possible by the Government of Ontario's 2010 Summer Experience Program. All videos were created by Sarah Miller-Garvin for the Neighbourhood Arts Network.

First Impressions: Telling Toronto's Stories

First Impressions is a partnership project between Toronto Arts Council and Heritage Toronto, launched in September 2009 on TTC subway cars and buses in recognition of the City's 175th birthday, the TAC's 35th anniversary, and the importance of arts and heritage in Toronto.

This project is made possible by RBC, with additional support from The George Partnership and CBS Outdoors. As with all TAC arts awareness projects, Toronto Arts Foundation has provided critical assistance and support for First Impressions.
