Our Vision
Toronto Arts Foundation is powered by a vision: Creative City: Block by Block, a commitment to connect every Toronto neighbourhood to the transformative power of artistic activity. Toronto Arts Foundation does this in a variety of ways, including: connecting community engaged artists through its Neighbourhood Arts Network; developing a brand new Arts Hub in North York (North York Arts); working in partnership with two major universities to research the impact of the arts in at-risk communities in Toronto; as well as celebrating Toronto’s incredible artists as part of the Toronto Arts Foundation Awards Portfolio.This brochure tells Toronto Arts Foundation’s story through its artists and champions, showcasing some of its most exciting initiatives and celebrating the key stakeholders that help Toronto Arts Foundation build a better Toronto, one creative block at a time.
Who We Are
Toronto Arts Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization with the exclusive focus and unique strengths to design effective programs that unite art making and city building. Toronto Arts Foundation leverages the knowledge and experience of its sister organization Toronto Arts Council to spearhead initiatives to strengthen arts accessibility throughout the City of Toronto, seeking to achieve increased social and economic benefits from the arts for our city, increased citizen participation in the arts, increased recognition of Toronto’s artistic excellence and increased financial investment in the arts. Toronto Arts Foundation is a knowledge centre, as well as a convener and catalyst at the forefront of collaborations between organizations committed to successful city-building.

Art is everywhere.
It is being created in our libraries, concert halls, community centres, theatres and parks, as well as on our sidewalks. It transforms our public spaces, allowing our citizens to imprint their identities and stories on to the city as if it were a canvas. Toronto’s art makers are diverse, ranging from professional artists and arts organizations, to young people looking to beautify their community through arts and crafts, doing what they can to contribute to the on-going cultural history of the City of Toronto. The arts are a vital part of the fabric of the city, helping the city with its goals of beautification, social cohesion and economic development.
But not everyone has access to the transformative power of the arts, and we need your help to give every person and community in Toronto the opportunity to benefit from the arts through the Toronto Arts Foundation’s strategic initiatives and programs.
