The Toronto Arts Foundation (TAF) is pleased to announce the fifteen finalists for the 2011 Toronto Arts Foundation Awards, celebrating those individuals and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to Toronto’s vibrant artistic and cultural life. This year’s nominees were chosen by a stellar multi-disciplinary jury which included Peter Chin, Simon Foster, Maureen Hynes, Shannon Litzenberger, Charles Reeve, Sonia Sakamoto-Jog, Jini Stolk, Jordan Tannahill and Jennifer Waring. New for this year: finalists were photographed as part of the Toronto Arts Foundation Finalists Portrait Series. These beautiful stills were created by Denise Grant Photography.
Winners of the 2011 Toronto Arts Foundation Awards will be announced on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Mayor’s Arts Awards Lunch, taking place at the Arcadian Court, 401 Bay Street, Simpson Tower, 8th Floor.
“This awards lunch is about celebrating who and what makes our city great” said Claire Hopkinson, Executive Director, Toronto Arts Foundation. “The entire spectrum of Toronto’s creative community is represented at this event, breaking bread with civic leaders and community builders.”

• Peggy Baker, 2009 recipient of the Governor General Award

• Judith Thompson, playwright, winner of the 2008 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize
This year, the Toronto Arts Foundation will be presenting awards totaling $48,500.
